Wall Mount – Double Gordon
Installation Instructions
Follow the steps to install your Double Gordon heated towel rail. Refer to the reference images and tutorial video during the process for extra guidance, or call us if you get stuck.
Need help?1. Ensure area is clean
Before starting work, ensure working area is free of obstructions and objects, and place a towel down on the ground. Unpack Gordon carefully and lay facing up on the towel.
2. Mark your top
Lift Gordon up and place against the wall where you'd like Gordon to go. Using a pencil, mark the top of Gordon on the wall, and then lay Gordon flat on the towel again.
3. Mark the main bracket holes
The main wall bracket is mounted 68mm below the top of Gordon (and where you first marked on the wall). Locate your wall bracket, hold it in position, and make a second mark through the centre of the slotted bracket hole (see drawing for reference).
4. Drill pilot hole
Using a 7mm masonry bit, drill a hole in the wall on your bracket mark to a suitable depth. Fit a wall plug into this hole.
5. Level and install bracket
Fix the main wall bracket (through the central slotted hole) to the wall using one of the screws provided. Don't fully tighten, instead use this time to adjust the main bracket for height and ensure it is level using a spirit level.
Once you're happy with your height and level, drill and fix the bracket firmly to the wall using the wall plugs and screws provided (we provide 8 holes to allow for a variety of fixing positions, and you must use at least two of them for a secure installation).
6. Install bottom bracket
Locate the smaller centre bottom bracket (used to stabilise Gordon) and position this as shown on the reference drawing. Fix the bottom bracket firmly to the wall using the wall plugs and screws provided. The slotted hole can be used for initial adjustment prior to fixing through the remaining hole.
7. Install the towel rail unit
Hang Gordon onto the main bracket ensuring it is fully engaged on the plastic spacers. When you're happy with the placeing, fix the centre bottom bracket to the radiator using the 6mm capscrew and 5mm allen key provided.
8. Wiring
Wire Gordon into a fused spur providing a means of isolation in accordance with current ISO/AUS/NZ standards and IEE regulations. Gordon can also be wired to a timer switch – we suggest the Clipsal Timer Switch.
Double Gordon
Important Information
General Usage
The unit is splashproof to IP44 standard. The Gordon heated towel rail is designed to provide year-round service for airing towels and articles of clothing. It is not intended to provide a sole heating service but will take the chill off a small size bathroom, lavatory or en suite. No routine maintenance is necessary apart from occasional cleaning.
Electrical
Gordon must be earthed and used on A.C. mains supply of 220/240 Volts~ only.
The electrical installation of this towel rail must be carried out by a competent electrician in accordance with the current Regulations for Electrical Equipment. Before installation check that the supply voltage corresponds with that marked on the rail.
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: blue = neutral, brown = live, green/yellow = earth. As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows:
The green/yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol (coloured green or green/yellow).
The blue wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
The brown wire must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
Operation
Heat will be distributed along each of the fins. Some variation in the temperature across the surface of the rail is normal. When the appliance is covered the temperature will rise.
The towel warmer may be switched on and off at the isolating wall switch. A timer can also be utilised to improve energy efficiency. The specification and installation of switches and any additional controls are the responsibility of the installer and must be installed in accordance with current electrical installation regulations.
Cleaning
There are no user serviceable parts on the towel rail, but it is a good idea to keep it looking clean to extend longevity.
The powder coated finish on your towel rail can be maintained by occasionally wiping over with a damp cloth and lightly finishing with a soft dry cloth. This should only be carried out when the rail is cold and not in use.
Do not use abrasive cleaning powders as this could damage the surface finish, and avoid harsh chemical cleaners, solvents or petroleum-based cleaning products as these can damage the coating and therefore reduce its service life.
Essential oils, especially those containing eucalyptus, may harm the powder coated surface – it is recommended that these are kept away from your Gordon.

Maintenance 101
Good Airflow
Good airflow is essential for efficient drying. Double Gordon functions best when no more than two layers of towels or clothing are draped over each fin, and air is allowed to vent freely. Items should be placed evenly over the whole surface of the fins where possible.

Drying & Storage
After your towels are dry Gordon acts as a great storage solution until your next shower or bath. Don't leave wet towels or clothes on the towel rail when the towel rail is off.
